25 Days of Christmas - Day 12
Can you believe that we're almost to the halfway point? We usually get a live tree to complement our fake white one, but this year, we were leaning towards just being a one tree family. Mark and I are real scrooges when it comes to buying trees. We pride ourselves on getting the cheapest tree possible and will bend your ear with tales of our bargain hunting, like the time in 1996 when we bought a tree for $5 from a 8 year old boy.
Of course, we had a change of heart this weekend when we were out shopping and Lauren got very excited about the prospect of getting a real tree. So we caved. While this guy wasn't expensive as far as trees go, I'm sorry to say that we will not be reminiscing in years to come about 2012's tree purchase.
For today's photo, I first tried to experiment with off camera lighting, but nothing was working. Then, I decided to do a 30 second exposure. That did trick. I really like how the lights are flaring on the left side of the tree.
